Welcome! I am Maria Tran (she/her) a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #157641)
based in Los Angeles County, providing virtual therapy to residents all throughout CA
As a queer child of Vietnamese immigrants, I carry a deep understanding of what it means to navigate intersecting identities, balancing cultural expectations, intergenerational trauma, and the desire for authenticity in a world that often fails to see the fullness of who we are. These experiences have profoundly shaped the lens through which I approach therapy. I am committed to creating an affirming and anti-oppressive space for BIPOC LGBTQIA+ individuals, one where your voice is centered, your complexity is embraced, and your story is met with compassion. My work is grounded in the belief that healing does not happen in isolation but within the context of relational care.
My path to becoming a therapist began with navigating my own mental health journey as an adolescent, a time when I often felt isolated and misunderstood. This personal experience inspired me to dedicate my work to creating spaces of safety, understanding, and healing for others.
My work is rooted in the belief that healing begins when we allow ourselves to be seen with gentleness. Together, we’ll create a space where your pain can be held with compassion, and where the stories you’ve carried alone can finally soften. Therapy becomes a place to untangle what feels heavy, to tend to old wounds, to reshape boundaries that no longer protect you, and to nurture relationships that bring you closer to yourself.
Grounded in attachment theory, psychodynamic and an intersectional framework approach, we’ll explore the landscape of your inner world and the context of the life that surrounds you. As we bring understanding to your experiences, new possibilities for connection begin to open. From there, we can begin creating new paths toward healing.
Outside of therapy, you can find me at the climbing gym, making flower arrangements, and spending time with my dog Blue, and cat Firecat (who will sometimes pop in to say hi during therapy sessions).
Trauma informed Asian American Therapist
I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. My clinical experience spans nonprofit work, community mental health, LGBTQIA+ center, substance treatment center, and private practice setting, where I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse individuals across different backgrounds and life stages.
